Terminal AI-7 is a retro-themed AI chat interface. It runs entirely in your browser with no backend server — nothing is stored remotely. Bring your own API key from Anthropic (Claude) or any OpenAI-compatible provider, and pick your provider in the [ API KEY ] dialog.

Because there is no backend, your browser calls the provider directly. Browsers only allow this for endpoints that send the right CORS headers, so not every provider works client-side:

✅ Anthropic — works directly (uses the official browser-access header).

✅ OpenRouter — recommended. One key gives you basically every model (GPT, Gemini, Claude, Llama, …). Base URL https://openrouter.ai/api/v1.

✅ Local models — Ollama / LM Studio (e.g. http://localhost:11434/v1), if you enable CORS on the local server. Leave the key blank.

❌ OpenAI's own api.openai.com — CORS-blocked from browsers; it will fail here. Use OpenRouter to reach GPT models instead.

We deliberately do NOT run a proxy — routing your key and prompts through our server is exactly the privacy trade-off this terminal avoids. OpenRouter is the honest one-key path to "any model."

Anthropic (Claude):

1. Go to console.anthropic.com, sign up, open API Keys.

2. Click Create Key and copy it — it starts with sk-ant-

3. Click [ API KEY ] above, choose Anthropic, paste the key. New accounts get $5 free credit.

OpenRouter (GPT / Gemini / Llama / …):

1. Go to openrouter.ai, sign up, and create a key (starts with sk-or-).

2. Click [ API KEY ] above, choose OpenAI-compatible, click the OpenRouter ★ preset.

3. Set the Model to any OpenRouter model id, e.g. openai/gpt-4o-mini or google/gemini-flash-1.5.

This page has no backend server. Your API key and messages never pass through any system we control. When you send a message, your browser connects directly to the provider you selected — nowhere else.

Your API keys are saved in your browser's localStorage — local to this device and browser only. Each provider's key is remembered separately. Conversation history exists in memory only and is wiped when you close or refresh the page. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no data collection of any kind.

⚠ localStorage is plain text. Only use this terminal on a personal device you trust. Anyone with access to your browser's dev tools could read a stored key. Review your provider's privacy policy for how they handle your prompts.

Providers charge per token — a token is roughly 4 characters of text. Each message you send uses input tokens (your text + conversation history) and each reply uses output tokens. The session token counter in the status bar tracks your cumulative usage. The estimated cost figure is based on claude-sonnet-4 pricing ($3.00 / 1M input, $15.00 / 1M output) and is only shown for Anthropic — for other providers, check your dashboard for real pricing.

Monitor your actual spend at your provider (e.g. Anthropic billing or OpenRouter credits). You can usually set usage limits there to avoid unexpected charges.
